A CNC Operator specializing in turning and milling operates computer-controlled machinery to produce precision components from metal and other materials. Responsibilities include machine setup, tool changes, quality checks, and reading technical drawings to ensure products meet exact specifications.
A CNC Operator – Turning/Milling is responsible for setting up and operating CNC lathes and milling machines to manufacture precision parts according to detailed engineering drawings and specifications. This role involves loading raw materials, selecting and installing the correct tools, running programs, and monitoring machine performance to ensure accurate and efficient production.
The operator is expected to perform regular quality checks using calipers, micrometers, and gauges, make minor program edits or offsets, and troubleshoot common machining issues. Adherence to safety standards, routine maintenance of equipment, and documentation of production activities are also key aspects of this role. Experience with G-code, blueprint reading, and working in a high-precision manufacturing environment is essential.
Responsibilities:
Set up and operate CNC turning and milling machines to produce precision parts.
Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD files.
Adjust machine settings and tool offsets to ensure accurate part dimensions.
Inspect finished products using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
Perform basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
Maintain production records and ensure quality control standards are met.
Collaborate with engineers and supervisors to improve machining processes.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a CNC Operator, preferably in both turning and milling.
Familiarity with G-code and CNC programming basics.
Ability to read engineering drawings and use measurement tools.
Strong attention to detail and safety.
Technical diploma or certification in machining or related field is a plus.
Operated CNC turning and milling machines to produce high-precision components with tolerances within ±0.01mm.
Interpreted complex engineering drawings and adjusted machine programs for optimal production.
Performed in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
Optimized machine cycles by adjusting feed rates and cutting speeds, improving efficiency by 15%.
Maintained clean and safe workstations in compliance with ISO 9001 standards.
